The agave plant is a significant and diverse economic resource for Mexico. The plant, declared World Heritage by UNESCO, covers hundred of thousand acres with its spiky, blue leaves, adding rugged character and vibrant color to the red volcanic soils in the high altitude desert slopes of Western Mexico.
